Wind power

In Greek mythology, Aeolus, son of Jupiter and the nymph Menalippe, is the master of the winds.

Since a long time, the wind is used as a mecanic energy to crush the grains of wheat, to move in the seas and today to produce electricity.

Thanks to a generator, wind turbines transform the mechanical energy produced by the wind into electrical energy. Like windmills, whose wings are oriented towards the wind by the miller, the blades of wind turbines are automatically placed facing the wind.

Wind energy takes part of renewable energies, which are natural and inexhaustible sources of energy.

Energy transition in France

France, whose wind energy potential is strong, has decided to limit its greenhouse gas emissions and reduce its dependence on nuclear power by doubling its share of renewable energy, which is currently about 16%, by 2030 and to develop its wind energy production capacity.

One of the largest wind farms in France

Built in 2006, visit one of the most important wind farms in France, the Cormainville-Guillonville wind farm composed of 36 wind turbines.

One of these wind turbines is 95 meters high and is built according to ecological, landscape, noise and safety criteria. It weighs 329 tons.
